Bread is great. I love good bread and find it really adds to a great meal.
Bad bread on the other hand can ruin a meal. When I go to a restaurant and the bread they serve is stale or just plain bad…odds are… I am not going back to that restaurant.
That being said, I thought I would start adding some bread recipes for you all to enjoy and what better place to start than dinner rolls
Dissolve the yeast in the warm milk and let stand for 5 minutes
Blend the sugar, eggs and 1/2 cup of butter.
Add in the milk and yeast mixture.
Mix in 2 cups of flour until blended.
Add in 2 more cups and blend well.
Slowly add the remaining 3 cups.
If dough is sticky, add a little more flour.
Knead for 8-10 minutes until you have a nice elastic ball of dough.
Lightly grease a metal or glass bowl with olive oil.
Place the ball of dough in the bowl and turn once.
Cover the bowl with a hot, slightly damp towel and place in a warm area to rise.
Let rise until double in size (1-1.5 hours)
When it has doubled, punch it down and form into a ball again.
Cover with a fresh hot, damp towel and let rise again until double in size.
Repeat the process one more time.
After the 3rd time of letting it rise, divide into 12-14 2 inch balls and place into greased baking dishes.
Cover with Warm damp towels and let rise till double in size.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Place rolls in oven and cook for 10-15 minutes until golden.
Remove from oven and drizzle with the remaining half cup of butter.
Cool on a rack for a few minutes.
Serve and enjoy!
